Southborough apartments for rent
Once sleepy Southborough was, like most of its neighbors, a small farming town until the 19th century, when the town’s abundance of water made it a natural location for manufacturing. In 1898, a dam construction designed to provide the growing city of Boston with much needed fresh water halted Southborough’s industry. As a result, the town remained largely rural until the tech boom of the 1970s made it a destination for industry for the second time in its history. This huge waterworks project also added to the growing Irish population of the town and brought the first wave of Italian immigrants
If you choose a Southborough apartment, there’s a good chance you’ll be living near one of the town’s many reservoirs. These tree-lined reservoirs created by the damming of the river give the town its serene, pastoral look and feel.
Upscale Southborough is easily accessible to Boston via the commuter rail, which has a stop in town, and two major highways (neither of which run through the town itself), making it the perfect bedroom community for young professionals who work downtown or along the Route 495 high-tech corridor. If you’re looking for apartments to rent in Southborough, you’ll probably be looking at more spacious homes than small studio apartments. Southborough real estate has become very desirable (Larry Bird of Celtics fame lives here), and apartment rental prices reflect that. But if you’re looking for a peaceful New England town with excellent schools, easy commuting, and plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities, then a Southborough apartment might be the perfect place for you.
